How does the dampener affect racket performance?
A dampener (also called a vibration dampener) is a small device placed on the strings of your tennis racket. Its main job is to reduce unwanted vibration that travels through the strings into your hand and arm after impact.
Standard Dampeners
Most traditional dampeners do one thing: they mute string vibration. This can:
- Increase arm comfort (less shock and vibration)
- Slightly reduce string noise ("ping")
- Often make the string bed feel a bit muffled or "dead"
